Affirmation and Cultural Competence: Final Workshop of the Pitch Perfect Project

After months of engaging discussions and interactive sessions, the first cycle of workshops in the Pitch Perfect project is reaching its conclusion... at least for now! The final workshop is scheduled for the late afternoon of January 27 and will last two hours, focusing on two essential aspects for those working in support and tutoring contexts.

Throughout six previous sessions, we have explored the historical and cultural origins of the LGBTIQA+ community, key theoretical frameworks, and, most importantly, linguistic and communicative strategies. In this final session, we will take a more practical approach, delving into two key methodologies used in psychological support and tutoring settings for LGBTIQA+ individuals of all ages:

Affirmative Practices: Strategies for actively supporting LGBTIQA+ individuals, inspired by affirmative counseling techniques widely adopted in English-speaking countries.

Cultural Competence: Tools and approaches for creating truly inclusive listening and support environments, with a particular focus on visual and cultural aspects.

As usual, the workshop will be held in a blended format: participants can join in person in Milan at Animondo Onlus or connect remotely via Microsoft Teams. While primarily designed for counselors, tutors, and psychologists, the session is open to anyone looking to enhance their communication and relational skills from an inclusive perspective.

The course is conducted in Italian, but if needed, given the proficiency of our already registered participants, we can easily switch to English, if needed.

At the end of the session, we will also share the first operational draft of the illustrated playing cards, which represent the next phase of our project. This will be an opportunity to collect direct feedback from those who may use them in listening centers, classrooms, and other educational or tutoring environments.
